Flap T on the first letter
Hello, everyone.
I have a question.
I know T is pronounced like R sound after first syllable when it's followed by a vowel. But I have seen a lot of american americans pronouncing R sound instead of T sound on the preoposition "to". My question, is it informal to do that?

Re: Flap T on the first letter
I heard in the SQL video lesson the following sentence: "What column should we have in order to describe each item on our list?".
In this example, order to describe is like "orerescribe".
I heard "we neero" instead of "we need to" as well, but i've heard normal T sound in another sentences, command to make = command to make.
Is there a grammatical rule to flap T?

Good morning Vandal.
This is because they talk very fast, if you mean native americans.
Their english is kinda hard to pronounce. It also depends on the region of USA they live.
Maybe you can compare USA english with England english and even Canadian English and see the differences.
Hope it helped.
Hugs, God bless.

Hi Vandal,
They speak like that to go faster in a conversation, as our friend Davi told. The name of it is "orality marks", I'm not a linguist. Who wish if I were (You see? Another orality mark). it is only a part of the imperative verb. I'm going to ask someone who knows this. And as I said, your question has to do with Linguistics.
I'm gonna try to ask someone.
Good studies!

Dear vandal9,
I ask to my about this (who is linguistics) and he said, that the name of this, in Linguistics, is syncope (In Portuguese, síncope).
In order describe
In order study
In order do something
In order...
All of this serves to speak faster. Basically this.
